Naomi Neville, former sales director at Allagash Brewing Co., has joined Maine Center for Entrepreneurs as program manager for the organization’s Cultivator Food Accelerator.
Neville succeeds Susan Hanson, who recently started at STARC Systems in Brunswick as director of business transformation.
In her new role, Neville is responsible for managing all operations of the program. which aims to help food, beverage and agriculture entrepreneurs expand their businesses.
“I hope to be able to help companies scale up their production and distribution networks to add jobs and value to the Maine economy,” Neville told Mainebiz in a text message.
MCE’s Food Accelerator program is part of a larger initiative by FocusMaine to create quality jobs and boost economic diversification in Maine.
MCE also runs a program called MarketShare, which aims to equip Maine food businesses with strategic trade data and analysis so they can spread their wings nationwide.
Currently, 53 Maine businesses are participating in both programs.
Last month, several members or graduates of the programs represented Maine at two trade shows in New York.
Neville, who hails from England, moved to Maine 24 years ago to work in the food service, manufacturing and supplier industries.
During her 14 years at Allagash, Neville helped Maine’s largest brewery expand nationwide, with distribution across 19 states and Washington, D.C.
“Naomi brings a proven track record of growing businesses,” said Tom Rainey, MCE’s executive director “She has demonstrated success in scaling-up food industry businesses, and contributed significantly to the strategies and internal systems that enabled these businesses to grow.
"Naomi will now work with a cohort of Maine businesses to develop and implement similar strategies for growth.”
Maine Center for Entrepreneurs, based at the New England Ocean Cluster Hús on Portland's waterfront, was established in 1997.
