Former gov. spokesman opens PR firm
Former Gov. Paul LePage spokesman Dan Demeritt has launched his own public relations firm.
Demeritt, who resigned as LePage's communications director in April following scrutiny of his personal financial troubles, has opened political consulting firm Winning Initiatives according to MaineToday Media. Demeritt told the news company he has one client, whom he did not name, and will focus on campaign initiatives and would like to help Republican legislators get re-elected. According to his company's website, Demeritt's experience "working for the country's most free-spoken chief executive" has given him "a knack for creative problem solving."
Demeritt cited "several unresolved business issues" for resigning earlier this year, following media reports that he was facing foreclosure on four rental properties he owns in the Augusta area and his Pizza Connection restaurant in that city.
