Michael LeVert and Catherine “Kate” Reilly deLutio, who have both served as state economists in Maine, have launched a consulting firm specializing in research and analysis.
The firm, 45 North Research, is aimed at clients in the public, private and nonprofit sectors.
“Today’s leaders have access to more data than ever before, but using it to design effective policies and programs isn’t always intuitive,” said deLutio.
The firm partnered with the Maine Development Foundation’s Policy Leaders Academy, a non-partisan educational program for Maine legislators, to condense and “translate” the state budget into a 20-page primer for new legislators and other stakeholders.

45 North is working with other for-profit and nonprofit businesses on economic impact assessments, proprietary data analysis and modeling the potential impact of Maine’s minimum-wage increase. It is also partnering with Frank O’Hara and Charles Lawton of Planning Decisions Inc. as the research consultants near retirement.
