Several former Wells Fargo financial advisors, who collectively bring with them $338 million in client assets, have opened a new office in Portland through an affiliation with Steward Partners Global Advisory LLC, an employee-owned full-service independent partnership.
That partnership is associated with Raymond James Financial Services Inc., a member firm of the Securities Investor Protection Corp. and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.
The Portland office is located at 16 Middle St., Suite 501B, and is the 17th location nationwide for Steward Partners — its first within Maine
Ralph Good and James Nylund, certified financial planners formerly with Wells Fargo in Portland and who comprise the newly formed GoodNylund Wealth Management Group, have joined Steward Partners as a managing director and vice president respectively. Christine Balfour, their longtime associate, also joins the GoodNylund team, which oversaw $200 million in client assets at Wells Fargo, according to a news release announcing the opening of the new Portland office.
Adam Dunbar, also formerly of Wells Fargo in Portland, has joined Steward Partners as a senior vice president and will lead his own team with roughly $138 million in client assets. Dunbar’s colleague, Jackie Gervais, also joins the firm.
Dunbar, Gervais and the GoodNylund team will be based out of the new Portland office. Five employees are working at that location at the start.
"When we decided to expand our growing New England presence by opening our first office in Maine, we knew we needed to find the right group of advisors to help us make that happen,” said Jim Connors, divisional president at Steward Partners. “James, Ralph and Adam represent just the type of talented, client-focused advisors we were looking for. We couldn't be happier that more and more advisors are beginning to see the benefits of our independent, employee-driven approach for their business, and we're so excited to start 2019 by welcoming these advisors to our growing family."
With this new location in Maine, Steward now operates 17 offices across 11 states and the District of Columbia. The new Portland office is its first to open in 2019 and the company plans to continue its trajectory as one of the fastest growing full-service independent partnerships in the country.
"We're thrilled to get started working and look forward to the increased level of flexibility Steward Partners gives us, which in turn will allow us to better serve and interact with our clients in ways which were often previously out of reach,” Good said in the news release.
"I've looked at multiple options in the past and nothing quite appealed to me on all levels of practice management, sophisticated investment products and tools, outstanding client service capabilities and finally, firm culture," Dunbar said. "Steward Partners with the support and platform of Raymond James just offers the right combination which made this an obvious choice for my practice."
Steward Partners Holdings, Steward Partners Global Advisory LLC, the GoodNylund Wealth Management Group and Adam Dunbar maintain a separate professional business relationship with Raymond James Financial Services Inc., member FINRA/SIPC, offering securities through its registered professionals. Investment advisory services are offered through Steward Partners Investment Advisory LLC in Washington, D.C.
