Southern Maine has seen a growing number of restaurants emerge, offering everything from Cantonese cuisine to comfort food to Mexican specialties.

Let’s take a foodie trip around the area to look at some of the new offerings.

Lucky Cheetah, located at 11 Moulton St., or rather below it (the former Old Port Tavern), serves up a diverse array of dishes, including steamed dumplings, noodle dishes and a collection of spiced sauces, slaws, and soups. The restaurant has introduced a lunch hour service featuring a fresh menu, along with a new patio area.

The new lunch menu includes items such as Char Siu Bao, Chili Crisp Lobster Roll with lotus root chips, Sesame Cold Noodles with Beef, and Coconut & Garlic Mussels.

The new lunch menu at Lucky Cheetah will run Friday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Cuties is an all-day bar at 46 Market St. (in the former Petite Jacqueline space) in Portland.

The opening menu will include options such as an egg and cheese McGriddle, hash browns, a tuna tostada and more. The evening menu features wine and cocktails and bar snacks like Nashville hot popcorn shrimp with black lime mayo and hushpuppies. The bar is open Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, 8 a.m. to midnight.

Benny's, a Philadelphia-inspired, Italian-American restaurant located at 545 Congress St. (in the former Broken Arrow space), opened its doors in May. The restaurant is owned by the team behind Ramona's Sandwich Shop. The restaurant offers a variety of dishes, including linguine with clams, eggplant and chicken parmesan and spaghetti with meatballs. The restaurant is open from Wednesday to Sunday, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Mandy & Matt's, a cafe located at 1160 Forest Ave. in Portland, offers a variety of classic breakfast and lunch items, including pancakes, eggs, oatmeal and cold sandwiches. It's open daily from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Salsa Mexican Grill is a new fast-casual restaurant that took over the 367 Main St. in Yarmouth (in the space formerly occupied by Dandy's Handy Store and Thoroughfare restaurant). The menu ranges from tacos, bowls, beef birria and salsa flights. The restaurant is open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
