Guv to create new energy committee
Gov. John Baldacci said he would name a new task force within a few days to craft a state energy strategy in time for the upcoming legislative session.
Baldacci told the Capitol News Service that the task force will look into whether the state should support drilling for oil and natural gas in the Gulf of Maine, as well as study wind and tidal power possibilities in Maine.
Baldacci says his goal is for Maine to become energy independent, reducing our reliance on foreign energy sources, the News Service reported.
