Kerem Durdag, COO of GWI, has been promoted to assume the additional duties as president.

GWI, the Biddeford-based high-speed internet provider, announced today that COO Kerem Durdag will pick up the additional duties as president.

As the company continues to evolve and focus heavily on fiber optic deployment and rural broadband expansion, Durdag has been instrumental in the strategic direction, development, and growth of the organization.

“Kerem joined our team two years ago,” GWI CEO Fletcher Kittredge said in a news release. “In that time he has made extraordinary progress in helping us define who we are and where we want to go. Kerem has built a team and assembled the resources necessary to reach our destination and we are well on our way. We all look forward with great excitement and anticipation for the journey ahead.”

Kittredge said that as GWI celebrates its 25th anniversary, Durdag’s focus will remain towards the future of the company.

“It is an honor for me to be part of the GWI team, folks I admire, trust and love working with, as we chart our focused goals and implement our plans to bring 21st century infrastructure via gigabit capable fiber optic broadband to all of Maine,” he said. “The delight for me is that our absolute commitment to net neutrality, access, privacy and security is unapologetically pro-consumer that has elemental meaning to me on a personal and professional level.”
