Chris Hall has been named CEO of the Portland Regional Chamber, one of the state's largest, following a national search that netted 85 applicants.
For five years, Hall has been the regional chamber's senior vice president and government liaison and was, before that, senior vice president and general counsel for the Maine State Chamber for 17 years, according to a press release. Since the resignation of past CEO Godfrey Wood in December, Hall has served as acting CEO for the regional chamber.
The announcement comes on the heels of a new partnership with nonprofit, education and business leaders — called Portland ConnectED — that aims to improve high school graduation rates, work force development and early-childhood education, which Hall said represents "new energy, new connections and new successes in the years ahead" for the chamber.
Hall said his first priority will be conducting a review of the chamber's marketing, communications and events, which has not been done at the organization for six years.
