Hartt Transport's $6.5M expansion to add jobs

More jobs, roads and developable industrial lots are in Auburn’s future after Bangor-based Hartt Transportation broke ground on its $6.5 million expansion in the central Maine city on Thursday.

The Lewiston Sun Journal reported that Hartt’s plans at the Kitty Hawk Business Park involve a $5.3 million, 30,000-square-foot building with a maintenance facility, office space and a truck wash, as well as seven industrial lots that will be available for development. The company is spending an extra $1.2 million on infrastructure, including new roads and utilities.

Hartt is expected to open its new facility next spring. As a result, the company will add 25 to 50 new jobs annually to its current 300-person Auburn workforce.
