The Rockland location is the company’s first in Knox County. The other stores can be found in Portland, Waterville and Bridgton.

Sweet Dirt employs about 150 people, the majority of which are in retail or cultivation. With the addition of our Rockland store, the company has added eight retail employees.

Ferguson Construction Co. in Eliot has extensively renovated the 1,800-square-foot Rockland retail space. The architects and designers are Attar Engineering Inc. in Eliot, Tricarico Architecture and Design in Tinton Falls, N.J. and SevenPoint Interiors-Cannabis Interior Design & Fixture Manufacturing in Ontario.

“Rockland is quintessential coastal Maine,” says Jim Henry, chief executive officer of Sweet Dirt. “With its vibrant, walkable downtown, reputation as an arts mecca, and community known for supporting local and carefully crafted goods, Rockland has long been a dream destination for locals and visitors – and for Sweet Dirt.”

Sweet Dirt Rockland sits at the entrance to downtown and will feature a carefully curated selection of Maine-grown and Maine-made products, including flower, pre-rolls, edibles, concentrates, hemp, CBD and ancillary products. Sweet Dirt will also offer its own family of brands, highlighting organically grown cannabis, certified clean by the Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association.

The new recreational cannabis store will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. for adults 21 and older. Online ordering is available at www.sweetdirt.com.

“Sweet Dirt has operated a medical cannabis store in Eliot, Maine, for several years, [the company's sole medicinal shop] but its first adult-use cannabis store was established in Waterville in December 2020,” said Rebecca Henry of Sweet Dirt. “Our Portland store opened in March of 2021, and our Bridgton store opened in August of this year.”
