Idexx Laboratories has announced plans for a $50 million expansion of its corporate headquarters in Westbrook, which would support 500 new jobs.
Construction of the multi-story, 200,000-square-foot administrative building is slated to begin immediately, according to a press release from the company. Idexx, a biotechnology company that specializes in pet care, has expanded its manufacturing and R&D facility at the Five Star Industrial Park over the past seven years. The new building would allow the company to consolidate 400 workers currently based in other buildings in Westbrook. Idexx employs 4,800 people, including 1,600 in Westbrook.
Idexx has been involved in an ongoing dispute with neighboring company Pike Industries, which is seeking to locate a quarry at Five Star Industrial Park. Idexx plans to release more details about its expansion at a press conference today.
