New hires

NAI The Dunham Group, a commercial real estate firm in Portland, hired T.C. Haffenreffer. Previously, Haffenreffer was managing partner at Shoreline Development Group LLC.

Fontaine Family – The Real Estate Leader hired Maryanne Bear as listing manager/marketing director and Jacqueline Wing as a real estate agent in Scarborough.

Vets First Choice, a provider of veterinary pharmacy, prescription management and compliance marketing services in Portland, hired David Ball as director of business-to-business marketing and sales enablement. Ball was previously with Cisco Systems Inc.

Coastal Enterprises Inc., a Brunswick-based lender and investor specializing in rural economic development, hired Betsy Biemann as CEO. Biemann currently serves as a consultant to FocusMaine and recently completed serving as a project director at the Mossavar-Rahmani Center for Business and Government at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.

Verrill Dana, a law firm in Portland, hired Kristin Doeberl as an attorney in the firm’s family law group in Boston. Doeberl was most recently at Ginsburg Leshin Gibbs & Jones LLP in Wellesley, Mass.

BerryDunn, an accounting and consulting firm in Portland, announced the following new hires in administration: Christina Dalessio, marketing manager; Alex Gagnon, PC support technician; Adam McNally, content marketing manager; and Jennie Palermo as CPE and training coordinator. In addition, David Andrus was hired as a staff accountant in audit and accounting; Kimberly Brandt and Michael Martel as senior consultants and Amanda Findlay and Meagan Shelton as consultants in government consulting; and Kathy Bennett as manager in tax.

Lipman & Katz, a law firm in Augusta, hired Les Wilkinson Jr. as an attorney in business and real estate law, commercial financing, corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions and succession planning.

TD Bank hired Brent Rolfe as store manager at 1410 Congress St. in Portland. Rolfe was previously district manager for donor recruitment at the American Red Cross in Portland.

Casco Systems, a power generation and transmission industries engineering and system integration firm in Portland, hired Heidi Mills as a project engineer specializing in control and power systems design, Nate Meade as an electrical engineer specializing in protection and control system design and Bob Sherman as a principal project engineer focused on control and automation projects for the power industry.

SymQuest Group Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A. Inc. in Westbrook, hired Zachary Schechter and Justin Genschel as document solutions account executives. Previously, Schechter was with ImageTech while Genschel was with Higgins Corp.

The city of Portland hired Abby Spector as golf pro at the Riverside Golf Course. Spector is a PGA member and seven-time women’s Maine State Amateur Champion.

Oxford Networks, a telecommunications company in Lewiston, hired Mark VanLoan as vice president of customer support, Wendy Flowers as financial and business analyst and Anthony Pelletier as financial analyst in the firm’s finance department.

Bernstein Shur, a law firm in Portland, hired Hallie Flint Gilman as a shareholder in the firm’s energy practice group.

Bar Harbor Savings and Loan Association in Bar Harbor hired Jacquie Colburn as compliance administrator. Colburn was previously with the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services.

NBT Bank in Portland hired Daryl Wentworth as senior vice president and regional commercial banking manager. Wentworth was previously chief commercial officer at Northeast Bank in Portland.

United Way of Mid-Maine in Waterville hired Lauren Seganos Cohen as community engagement specialist.

People’s United Bank in Portland hired Suzanne Rende as senior vice president and wealth management officer.

SeniorsPlus, an agency on aging located in Lewiston, hired Timothy Verrill as network services and facilities manager and Donelle Uter as fiscal manager. Previously, Verrill was informational systems manager at Hartford Inc. in Lewiston and Uter was accountant specialist at Purdy Powers & Co. in Portland.

Promotions

The board of trustees of the Maine Community College System promoted Derek Langhauser to president of the seven-college system. Langhauser, who has served as the organization’s general counsel for more than 20 years, had been serving as interim president since February 2015.

Coastal Enterprises Inc., a Brunswick-based lender and investor specializing in rural economic development, promoted Keith Bisson to president. Bisson was the firm’s senior vice president of program management and development.

PDT Architects in Portland promoted Brian Curley to president and managing principal. Curley, who was named principal in 2003, succeeds David Webster, a founding principal who led the firm for 38 years. Webster will continue in an advisory role, running the federal-VA health care market sector while Curley heads the corporate, financial and housing sectors.

The University of Maine System board of trustees approved tenure for Kelly Hrenko, Yuseung Kim, Alexander Lapidus and Peter Woodruff. All four were also promoted to associate professor.

Bar Harbor Bank & Trust promoted Erin Baudanza to branch relationship manager in Rockland. Baudanza was previously a customer service representative.

First National Bank and its parent company, The First Bancorp in Damariscotta, promoted Sarah Cowan to vice president, regional manager. Cowan was previously branch operations manager.

SeniorsPlus, an agency on aging located in Lewiston, promoted Nathan Miller to aging and disability resource center manager. Miller previously was an aging and disability resource center specialist.

Gawron Turgeon Architects in Scarborough named Rebecca Dillon as principal and vice president of architecture.

Appointments

Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice in Lewiston added Jacqueline Fournier of Central Maine Medical Center, Elizabeth Keene of St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center and Chip Morrison of Androscoggin Bank to its board of directors.

The Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce announced that Tom Campbell will serve as its representative on the Auburn-Lewiston Municipal Airport board. Campbell, who is a retired U.S. Air Force and Maine Air National Guard member, replaces Paul Robinson.

The Bangor YMCA announced its 2016-17 board of director officers including: president, Rich Armstrong, president of The Snowman Group; vice president, Anne-Marie Storey, attorney at law and partner, Rudman Winchell; treasurer, Brian Donahue, CFO, Bangor Nursing and Rehabilitation; and secretary, Susan Faloon. Past presidents Tammy Higgins, COO of Epstein Properties, and Tyler Smith, president of Greenway Equipment Sales, will also serve as officers.

Maine Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap was named to the National Association of Secretaries of State Task Force on Business Identity Theft, a bipartisan initiative aimed at combating the spread of business impersonation and other forms of ID-related fraud.

Hartley Webb, safety management consultant at MEMIC, was appointed by Gov. Paul LePage to the Maine Board of Occupational Safety and Health, which is responsible for developing safety and health rules for public sector workplaces.

Catholic Charities Maine in Portland announced several new members of its board of directors for 2016 including Robert Ayotte, Rev. Richard Bertrand, Bill Flagg, Lauren Moody, Sister Patricia Pora and Nick Rico.

The Mitchell Institute, a scholarship granting organization in Portland, elected Joseph Foley as chair of its board of directors and added Dan Coyne, Robert Ervin, Brenda Garrand, Eric Haskell, David Hines and Michele Martin as board members. Foley is senior vice president of corporate marketing and public relations for Unum Group; Coyne serves as senior vice president of community impact at the United Way of Greater Portland; Ervin is vice president of Spring Brook Ice & Fuel Co. and retired superintendent of schools for the Bangor School District; Garrand is founder and CEO of GarrandPartners; Haskell is a physician at Maine Medical Partners; Hines is director of research at H.M. Payson & Co.; and Martin is a senior manager of customer satisfaction and business support at L.L.Bean.

Cruising Club of America named Bradford Willauer of Prouts Neck as vice commodore. Willauer has served as commodore (1973-75) as well as a fleet champion in the Yngling and Sonar classes at Prouts Neck Yacht Club.

Achievements

Kirby Littlefield, a plant operator at Maine Water for 50 years, was presented with the Sid Anthony Award of Merit from the Maine Water Utilities Association at its annual conference in Portland.

Aaron Fitzgerald, general manager of a McDonald’s restaurant in Topsham, received the Ray Kroc Award, recognizing the top 1% of McDonald’s restaurant managers from around the world. Also, Arthur Suttles, general manager at McDonald’s in Brunswick, was selected for the Fred L. Turner Award at a management training course held at McDonald’s Hamburger University in Oak Brook, Ill.

Eastern Maine Medical Center’s Joint Center of Excellence in Bangor was recertified by The Joint Commission, an independent organization.

The American Heart Association announced that several Maine employers have received national recognition for promoting physical activity and health in the workplace through its Fit Friendly Worksite program. New England Mobile Showers LLC, a portable shower trailer business in Portland, was one of 10 business success stories featured in the U.S. Small Business Association’s National Resource Guide.

RTI Wave Power in York was selected as one of nine finalists in a national wave energy competition held by the U.S. Department of Energy. The winner of the Wave Energy Prize, a 20-month design-build-test competition that aims to double the energy harnessed by ocean waves, will be awarded $2.25 million.

CES Inc., a firm of engineers, environmental scientists and land surveyors in Brewer, said that Suzanne Yerina passed the state of Maine’s Certified Geologist examination and Tom Daniels passed the state of Maine Licensure for Professional Engineers examination. Yerina is a project manager with more than 20 years of experience in geology with core expertise in Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, statistical analysis and asbestos inspections while Daniels is a professional engineer with more than six years of experience in civil and environmental engineering with core expertise in solid waste engineering and design; construction management; remedial design and remediation; and site design and permitting.

The Society of Certified Insurance Counselors recognized Gene McKeever of Allen Insurance and Financial in Camden with a certificate honoring his 35 years of professional leadership and Knowledge.

Donna Millett Ewert of Robinson Smith Wealth Advisors in Portland was accepted for membership in the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors, an organization of more than 2,400 financial advisors in the nation who deliver objective, fee-only advice.

Baker Newman Noyes, an accounting and consulting firm in Portland, was ranked 96th in Accounting Today’s list of the top 100 firms in the country. The firm was also listed fourth in the New England region.

U.S. Sen. Susan Collins received the 2016 National Rural Education Association’s Hero Award for leadership on behalf of the students of rural America.

The American College of Bankruptcy announced that Roger Clement Jr. was inducted as a fellow. Clement is an attorney at Verrill Dana and chair of the firm’s bankruptcy and creditors’ rights group. He also chairs the local rules committee of the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Maine as well as the Board of Visitors of Maine Law.

Allan Lyons, a field service technician for SymQuest Group Inc. in Westbrook, was awarded the Konica Minolta Silver Seal Award and named among the top technical training students nationwide.

ReVision Energy LLC, a designer and installer of solar energy systems in Portland, said Hans Albee recently became a state of Maine licensed professional engineer.

The Maine Women’s Hall of Fame inducted Connie Adler and Elizabeth Ward Saxl. Adler is a board member with the Maine Health Access Foundation and Maine Family Planning and serves as secretary for the board of directors of Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington. Saxl is the executive director of the Maine Coalition of Sexual Assault in Augusta.
