New hires

The Land & Garden Preserve in Seal Harbor and Northeast Harbor hired Taylor Bushell as natural lands director. Bushell most recently was director of land stewardship at the Westchester Land Trust in Bedford Hills, N.Y.

Verrill Dana, a Portland law firm, hired Robert Wright as legal services manager.

MaineGeneral Surgery in Augusta hired Joshua Gillis to provide plastic and reconstructive surgery at both the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta and the Thayer Center for Health in Waterville. Gillis recently completed a hand and microsurgery fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.

Hospice Volunteers of Somerset County hired Amy Cunningham as community outreach coordinator.

CES Inc., a firm of engineers, environmental scientists and land surveyors in Brewer, hired Philip Badger as senior project engineer and master electrician. Badger has 28 years of hands-on electrical work, electrical design experience and project leadership.

The Maine Community Foundation in Ellsworth hired Elena Sulima as controller. Sulima was previously with Hollywood Casino Hotel and Raceway in Bangor.

DMM Inc., a document solutions company in Scarborough, hired Rich Heuer as CFO. Heuer was previously CFO and COO at NEPS Inc., a communications software management provider.

Diversified Communications, an international media company in Portland, hired Joel Hatfield as an operations coordinator. Hatfield was previously a support expert at Certify.

NH Bragg, an industrial equipment supplier in Bangor, hired Andy Fitzpatrick as business development manager. Fitzpatrick has 20 years of manufacturing, engineering, front line supervision and executive management experience.

Mercy Hospital in Portland hired David Fernandez as vice president of physician practices. Fernandez was vice president of oncology and imaging services at Summit Medical Group in New Jersey.

Milliken Brothers Inc. in Portland hired Shawn Henderson as estimator and project manager. Henderson has 19 years of experience in estimating, project management and design build on a broad range of construction projects.

Androscoggin Home Healthcare & Hospice in Lewiston hired Jim Schneid as a per diem staff physician in the hospice, Katharine Addicott as a per diem nurse practitioner in hospice and palliative care programs and Nancy Wright as a nurse practitioner in the hospice programs.

H.E. Callahan Construction Co. in Auburn hired Michelle Keegan as director of human resources and safety. Keegan was previously environmental health and safety manager with Ocean Spray Cranberries in Breinigsville, Pa.

Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor hired Rudy Marciano as a neurosurgeon at EMMC Neurosurgery and Spine Specialists.

OTELCO, a wireline telecommunications company in New Gloucester, hired Debra Rumery as a customer service representative. Rumery most recently was a client service representative at Androscoggin Bank.

Bernstein Shur, a law firm in Portland, hired Tara Rich as an associate. Rich, who was the legal and policy director for the American Civil Liberties Union of Alaska, joined the firm’s labor and employment practice group.

207 Prime Properties LLC, a privately held real estate brokerage in Ogunquit, hired Dana Berenson as a sales agent in the Greater Portland area, Seth Driggin as a broker specializing in luxury properties on the southern Maine coast, Ellen Nixon as an associate broker in Wells, David Zempter as an agent in New Hampshire and Dominick Romano as an associate broker in southern Maine.

Promotions

Chase Custom Homes & Finance in Westbrook promoted William Noone to president. Noone previously served as vice president.

Waterfall Arts, a nonprofit community arts center in Belfast, promoted Martha Piscuskas to executive director. Piscuskas had served the organization as programming director since 2009.

Diversified Communications, an international communications company in Portland, promoted Stephanie Scherer to director, project management and marketing operations and Erin Ell to customer service coordinator. Scherer most recently served as manager, marketing operations while Ell was customer service representative.

cPort Credit Union in Portland promoted Jacky Murphy to senior branch manager at 35 Middle St. in Portland, Benjamin Guerette to director of training and Christian Van Dyck to senior vice president and general counsel. Murphy was most recently branch manager at Forest Avenue in Portland, Guerette was training manager and Van Dyck was vice president of compliance and audit.

Maine Public Relations Council added Wayne Clark to its board of directors. Clark teaches at the University of Southern Maine, New England College, Pacific University and Southern New Hampshire University at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

The American Heart Association in Portland elected Dervilla McCann, chief of population health at Central Maine Medical Center, as board president; and Mindy Beyer, quality improvement specialist with Maine Medical Partners / MaineHealth Cardiology, as board chair. In addition, Melanie Tinto, chief human resource officer at WEX, and Melina Furtado, associate research scientist at Jackson Laboratory, were added to the board.

Husson University in Bangor said that President Robert Clark was elected to the board of directors of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation for a three-year term, effective July 1. The council is a national advocate and institutional voice for promoting academic quality through accreditation.

Maine Manufacturing Extension Partnership in Augusta added Sally Garand to its board of directors. Garand is a commercial loan officer with Finance Authority of Maine.

Achievements

CES Inc., a firm of engineers, environmental scientists and land surveyors in Brewer, said Kay Allcroft is now a Society of Human Resources Management Certified Professional. Allcroft is human resources director, corporate risk manager and safety coordinator for the firm.

Alison Siviski, community and communications manager at the Olympia Snowe Women’s Leadership Institute, was named the first-ever “Maine Young Professional of the Year” at the second annual Ignition Awards hosted by PROPEL and the Portland Regional Chamber of Commerce. Four local businesses were also recognized at the event: “Hustler of the Year” was High Roller Lobster Co.; “Social Entrepreneurship (Small Business)” went to Mast Landing Brewing; “Social Entrepreneur of the Year” was awarded to Revision Energy; and “Economic Stimulation Award (Large Business)” went to Certify.
