Ingersoll Rand, a global company based in Ireland, acquired the compressor business assets of Trask-Decrow Machinery in Scarborough.
“Trask Decrow has been an Ingersoll Rand distributor since 1983,” Scott Krull, vice president of global commercial operations for compressor technologies and services business of Ingersoll Rand, said in a press release. “The acquisition strengthens our ability to serve our customers in the Northeast, in particular in Maine and parts of New Hampshire. It also furthers our approach of serving our customers in all our territories through a network of company owned customer centers and independent distributors.”
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Ingersoll Rand (NYSE: IR), a $13 billion global business with North American headquarters in Davidson, N.C., owns the brands Club Car, Ingersoll Rand, Thermo King and Trane. Eleven employees from Trask-Decrow joined Ingersoll Rand.
Trask-Decrow will maintain its non-plant air portion of the business, which includes industrial pump, process air and vacuum, breathing air and diesel utility equipment business. It will share space with Ingersoll Rand at Trask-Decrow’s headquarters, at 52 U.S. Route 1 in Scarborough, where it moved in 2011. The site will be known as the Ingersoll Rand Portland Customer Center.
According to the Trask-Decrow website, the company was founded in South Portland in 1983 by Neal Trask and Charles (Chuck) Decrow, who had worked together at Ingersoll-Rand. With Trask as area manager and Decrow as sales manager, they represented the air power, pump group, portable power and air tool and hoist divisions of Ingersoll-Rand. Trask sold his share of the business in 2001.
