June home sales drop 21%

Sales of homes in Maine dropped more than 20% last month, according to new data from the Maine Real Estate Information System Inc.
A total of 985 existing single-family homes were sold last month, a 21.4% decrease from June 2010, when 1,253 homes were sold, the Maine Public Broadcasting Network reported. The median sales price inched down 1.4% to $172,600.
In the Northeast, home sales fell 17% while the median sales price rose 3.1%. Nationally, existing homes sales dropped 7.4%, while the median sales price rose less than 1% to $184,600.
