Lawmakers to return for vote on $150M bond proposal

The state's Appropriations Committee is scheduled to meet Thursday to vote on the $149.5 million bond package that Gov. Paul LePage and Democratic lawmakers endorsed late Friday. The proposal includes $76 million in funding for highways and bridges as well as a number of education infrastructure projects.

Maine Public Broadcasting Network reported that once the committee gives its approval, the borrowing proposal would head to the full Legislature for a vote so that the bond package could be placed on the November ballot.

The proposal also includes $24 million for multimodal transportation improvements, $35.5 million for education and $14 million for armory maintenance and renovations.
