Legislature unveils proposed bill titles

The Maine Legislature has released a list of titles by sponsor and subject for the current 126th Legislature.

The Bangor Daily News reported that the list includes over 30 separate bond measure proposals, 15 measures targeting charter schools, and bills on fireworks following the legislative approval of consumer explosives in 2011.

The Portland Press Herald reported that this year's slate of legislative proposals also includes some timely — albeit lighter — items, like a proposed extension of liquor sales hours past 9 p.m. on St. Patrick's Day when the holiday falls on a Sunday, which it does this year.

The bills now await review by the Legislature's Office of the Revisor before the official text becomes available.
