LePage to lead S. America trade mission

Gov. Paul LePage will lead a trade mission to Chile and Brazil in November.

The gubernatorial trade mission to Sao Paulo, Brazil, and Santiago, Chile, will focus on export opportunities and investment attraction, according to a press release from the governor's office. It's the first time a Maine governor has visited South America since 1997. Brazil is Maine's 14th largest export partner and holds market opportunities in the fields of biotechnology, aircraft and automotive products, renewable energy and environmental technology, according to the release. Opportunities in Chile include medical equipment, mining products, furniture and consumer goods.

The trade mission is coordinated by the Maine International Trade Center and the U.S. Department of Commerce.
