L.L.Bean says it will donate $2.1 million to more than 80 organizations this year, an increase from the $1.9 million the company’s board approved giving last year.
Over the past decade, the outdoor retailer has provided close to $30 million in year-end funding to nonprofit organizations, the company said Tuesday. The company will also provide additional, smaller grants to dozens of other organizations.
The donations, ranging from $5,000 to $225,000, will be given to organizations in the areas of conservation and recreation, health and human services, education, and culture and the arts.
“We are pleased to provide funding to so many worthy organizations,” Shawn Gorman, L.L.Bean’s board chairman, said in a statement. “These groups share the values and traditions of L.L.Bean by encouraging healthy outdoor living and addressing real human needs in our communities.
Chris McCormick, the company’s outgoing president and CEO, said L.L.Bean shares its customers’ passion for the outdoors.
“We also have a vested interest in working with organizations to address the most pressing community needs,” McCormick said. “We are fortunate to have so many strong nonprofit partners leading these efforts.”
