The city of Auburn, which has been aggressively courting new residential development, will soon be home to 48 new luxury apartments.
Developer Sasseville Management LLC plans to build the units at the Kittyhawk Village complex, where there are already 72 apartments, according to a news release Tuesday.
The site, at 42 Tailwind Court, is close to Auburn-Lewiston Airport and about 2 miles north of Interstate 95 Exit 75.
“Our community at the gateway to Auburn is the perfect location for new luxury apartments,” said Aaron Sasseville, the company's director of operations. “Folks can live and play in Auburn and also work anywhere because of our unique proximity to the turnpike.”
The new construction will consist of two 24-unit buildings, and will include a mix of one- and two-bedroom units between 800 square feet and 1,150 square feet in size. Some one-bedroom units will include a den.
All units will include 9-foot ceilings, a private balcony or patio, stainless-steel kitchen appliances and washer/dryer hookups. The apartments will be fully air conditioned with individual heating units. Some units will also have garages.
Land clearing has begun, and the developer expects occupancy in the spring of 2023.
“This means more housing for more people,” said Auburn Mayor Jason Levesque. “Auburn is a city of opportunity and projects like this help balance our attainable housing equation. If you’re looking for a luxury apartment in a vibrant community, your next home is closer than you think; it’s right here in Auburn.”
Sasseville Management is a family-run business that has been building and managing rental units in Auburn and Lewiston since the 1970s.
