Maine among lowest in insurance costs
A report by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners has ranked Maine ninth in a list of states with the lowest homeowners' insurance in the country.
The Associated Press reported that Maine's ranking for automobile insurance costs also improved from the previous year of the NAIC report, with the state moving up one spot, from sixth to fifth.
The study released this year compares rate figures in 2010, the most recently evaluated data, against figures from 2009.
Maine also improved its ranking in homeowners' insurance costs from the previous study, moving up from the 11th spot.
