Bath-based Maine Hosting Solutions has acquired the web hosting division of telecommunications company Great Works Internet, according to a press release from Maine Hosting.
Maine Hosting Solutions will take over web hosting for Biddeford-based GWI's 600-1,200 customers in Maine today at noon, Maine Hosting Solutions President Daniel Eosco told Mainebiz. "We were already a strategic partner with GWI, and all new business customers were being hosted on our network, so it just became a better fit for the existing customers," he said. The acquisition also includes the transfer of all customer data onto new servers at a data center in Brunswick. The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
The switchover will give former GWI customers access to Maine Hosting Solutions' offerings, including e-commerce and email marketing tools, blogging and website builder software, and content management systems, according to the release. Maine Hosting is the largest web hosting company in Maine, according to Eosco.
