The Maine Turnpike Authority will keep discounts in place for high-volume users of its E-ZPass payment system.
The Portland Press Herald reported the MTA's board of directors voted unanimously to keep the discounts in place indefinitely.
The discounts first went into effect Nov. 1, giving a 50% discount to travelers making at least 40 one-way trips a month along the Maine Turnpike. Travelers making between 30 to 39 trips a month get a 25% discount.
Those discounts took effect at the same time as toll rate increases for drivers paying cash.
Turnpike officials considered removing the discounts by July 1 but said the state's toll plazas are generating enough revenue to meet maintenance and operating needs.
The MTA reported earlier this month that revenues for the past six months were up 16% despite a 4% drop in traffic.
