MTA gets new home

The Maine Turnpike Authority will be consolidating its operations in a new headquarters, with construction slated to begin next month.

The Maine Department of Transportation signed off on the $11.4 million building, just a day before the low bid from Wright-Ryan Construction Inc. of Portland was set to expire, the Central Maine Morning Sentinel reported. The project, originally scheduled to begin early this month, was delayed when the state questioned the necessity of the building under Gov. Baldacci's new plan to explore merging the turnpike authority and the Maine DOT.
