Boston-based New Balance has just completed a $65 million, 120,000-square-foot addition to its athletic footwear factory in Skowhegan.
The factory, at 17 Walnut St., was first purchased by New Balance in 1981. It broke ground on the expansion in June 2023.
New Balance and state and local elected officials will unveil the expanded facility on Monday, Sept. 22.
At the time of the groundbreaking, it was expected that the Skowhegan expansion would add 200 new jobs.
The company last year closed a nearby factory in Norridgewock and consolidated operations in Skowhegan.
New Balance employs a total of 800 people between manufacturing sites in Skowhegan and Norway and has stores in Skowhegan, Oxford and Kittery.
The company has 10,000 employees worldwide, and in 2024 reported worldwide sales of $7.8 billion. New Balance owns five athletic footwear factories in New England and one in Flimby, U.K. New Balance is a privately held company.
