A new restaurant and a new retailer may be coming to a proposed new building across from the Bangor Mall.
Bangor Realty Management LLC, the Michigan owner of a 4.5-acre lot at 570 Stillwater Ave., wants to turn some of that property into a 2,500-square-foot eatery and a 3,000-square-foot store, according to a land-use application filed with the city’s Penjajawoc Stream-Bangor Mall Marsh Commission.
The restaurant would include a drive-thru, but no details about prospective tenants were disclosed. The project would involve razing one current building, part of another one and retrofitting the 9,500 square feet that remain. There would also be upgrades to parking, landscaping, lighting and stormwater systems.
A third building on the site would not be affected by the project.
Currently, the site is a multi-tenant property that’s home to a Verizon Wireless retail store, a SuperCuts hair salon, a Subway sandwich shop and several other businesses. Some of the storefronts are vacant.
The site is directly across Stillwater Avenue from an entrance to the Bangor Mall. An entrance to Bangor Cinemas is also nearby.
If built as proposed, the addition would break ground in April 2023 and the project completed by October 2023.
Attempts to obtain more information from Bangor Realty Management were not immediately successful. The project is still in preliminary stages, and approval by the Penjajawoc Stream-Bangor Mall Marsh Commission is necessary before the developer can obtain necessary OKs from the Bangor Planning Board.
