New owner plans to reopen Oxford Dragway
After facing declining revenues and personnel issues last year, the Oxford Dragway in Oxford has been sold to a new owner and will reopen for the 2015 season.
The Lewiston Sun Journal reported that the eight-mile dragway was sold to Jeff Shock, of West Paris, who previously managed it in the 1990s. The dragway’s operations had been suspended for the 2014 season because of a lack of proper staffing.
Mike Mayberry, who was Oxford Dragway's president last year, told the newspaper at the time that the dragway was seeing dwindling attendance numbers for the 2013 season.
