New state economist selected

A Union woman has been selected by Darryl Brown, director of the Maine State Planning Office, as the new state economist.

Amanda Rector, an economist with the State Planning Office since 2007, replaces Michael LeVert, who left the post for a position within the private sector, according to a release from the state agency. As state economist, Rector will be responsible for developing revenue forecasts used to guide economic policy and planning and will be a member of the Revenue Forecasting Commission, which forecasts state revenues.

Rector worked as an economic research analyst with the Maine Department of Labor. She graduated from Wellesley College and earned a master's degree from the Muskie School of Public Service.
