New Wiscasset Raceway owner revs up

The Wiscasset Raceway is set to reopen this weekend after being auctioned for $130,000 in July.

WCSH6 reported that the race track's new owner, Richard Jordan of Kingfield, will host a special set of races Sunday with around 130 drivers signed up at the track that fell into disrepair and eventual foreclosure in the hands of its previous owners.

The TV station reported that teams of volunteers helped to clean up the track through the summer to get it back into racing shape for the event Sunday morning.

The Wiscasset track is one of two major state tracks to change hands recently. Last week, Tom Mayberry of Naples secured a contract agreement to purchase the state's largest track, the Oxford Plains Speedway.
