New hires

Summit Natural Gas of Maine hired Mike Tanchuk as president and executive vice president of Summit Utilities Inc. and Ryan Morris as an engineer.

MaineHealth, an integrated delivery system of health care providers, hired Kate Guare as manager of marketing and communications. Guare was most recently a communications and research consultant for Crescendo Consulting Group.

The Portland Museum of Art hired Diana Jocelyn Greenwold as curatorial fellow. Most recently, Greenwold was the Douglass Foundation Fellow in American Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Stantec in Scarborough hired Jim St. Laurent as senior project manager.

BEK, an IT firm in Brunswick, hired Marc Smith as senior account manager and James Devon as tier 3 senior engineer.

Lobster ME, a national restaurant chain headquartered in Portland, hired Kristen Bailey as vice president of marketing and corporate development. Bailey was previously the former director of the Maine Lobster Promotion Council.

Harriman, an architecture and engineering firm in Portland, hired William Gatchell as a senior architect.

Norton Financial Services in Cumberland Foreside hired Peggy Stewart as marketing software specialist and Dan Sullivan as clerical assistant.

United Way of Greater Portland hired Liz Cotter Schlax as president and CEO. Schlax was previously with John Deere.

Patrons Oxford Insurance Co. in Auburn hired Steve Montecalvo as a claims adjuster trainee.

Vreeland Marketing & Design in Yarmouth hired Sheldon Perkins as a senior account executive. Perkins was previously principal and strategist for Yes! Marketing Group.

The town of Fort Fairfield hired Tim Goff as its marketing and economic director. Goff was previously with WCSH-TV in Portland.

Eastern Maine Development Corp. in Bangor hired Kimberly Moore as a business services specialist for the statewide Disadvantaged Business Enterprise program.

The Bernstein Shur Group, the public affairs and government relations subsidiary of the Portland law firm Bernstein Shur, hired James Cote as a campaign consultant and lobbyist and Lizzy Reinholt as senior project manager. Cote previously led the No on Question 1 campaign while Reinholt was director of communications for U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud's 2014 campaign for governor.

Midcoast Federal Credit Union in Bath hired Brannen Gee as vice president retail services and Neeley Stanton as assistant vice president human resources and training.

Educate Maine, a business-led education advocacy organization in Portland, hired Edmund Cervone as executive director. Cervone is currently the director of operations at Denver Preschool Program in Denver, Colo.

The Environmental Health Strategy Center, a public health nonprofit in Portland, hired Charlotte Mace as its sustainable economy program director.

Putney Inc., a pet pharmaceutical company in Portland, hired Catherine Conaty as vice president of finance and controller.

Maine Medical Partners in Portland hired Alyson Maloy. Maloy, who is board-certified in psychiatry, neurology and integrative holistic medicine, was previously with Mid Coast Medical Group Neurology.

Onpoint Health Data, a health data and analytics organization in Portland, hired Brandon Perry as systems analyst. Perry most recently worked for The House of Lights.

Diversified Communications, an international media company in Portland, hired Brian Haley, Allison Hughes and Andrew Lamb as account executives and Kelli McNichols as a junior digital designer. Haley was previously with Cash Star, Hughes with Portland Magazine, Lamb with Plixer International and McNichols with Bowdoin College.

Gelato Fiasco in Brunswick hired Alessandra Hankinson as a sales manager for the Boston region. Hankinson was mostly recently with Bus2Alps, an educational travel company in Florence, Italy.

CBRE|The Boulos Co., a real estate firm in Portland, hired Catie-An Cardner as an associate. Cardner was previously marketing coordinator for The Bassett Team at Kennebunk Beach Realty.

Harnden Commercial Brokers in Yarmouth hired Sam LeGeyt as an associate.

Promotions

Camden National Bank in Camden promoted Deborah Jordan to executive vice president, chief operating officer and chief financial officer. Previously, Jordan was in charge of finance, marketing, the office of project management and strategic planning.

BEK, an IT firm in Brunswick, promoted Taylor Berryman to account manager.

Community Credit Union in Lewiston promoted Andrew Lunn to vice president of lending. Lunn was previously accounting supervisor.

R.M. Davis, a wealth management firm in Portland, promoted John Doughty to director of research. Doughty also serves as vice president and chair of the investment committee.

Katahdin Trust Co. in Houlton promoted Patty Hersey to vice president, business development officer. Hersey was previously assistant vice president and corporate services officer.

Crisis & Counseling Centers in Augusta promoted Michael Mitchell to CEO. Mitchell was previously the organization's clinical director.

Saco & Biddeford Savings Institution promoted Kathy Verrill to project manager. Verrill was previously the manager of business services.

Kilbride & Harris Insurance Services LLC in South Portland promoted Aaron McMorrow to vice president.

Clark Insurance in Portland promoted Tammy Volock to controller and Justin Hayden to financial analyst.

Sunday River Resort in Newry promoted Jake Treadwell to vice president of mountain operations, effective April 1. Treadwell is currently mountain manager and assistant vice president of mountain operations.

Appointments

Hospice of Southern Maine in Scarborough elected Theresa Desfosses, Statewide Manufactured Homes, and Paul Wolf, Kennebunk Savings, to its board of directors.

The Maine Department of Marine Resources appointed Sonny Beal to serve on the Maine Lobster Marketing Collaborative board of directors. Beal also serves as the vice chairman of the Beals/Jonesport Lobster Co-op.

Camden National Corp. announced that Lawrence Sterrs was elected to its board of directors and technology committee. Sterrs is the board chair and CEO of the Unity Foundation.

Jobs for Maine's Graduates in Augusta announced that Steve Byrnes, executive vice president and chief sales officer at Kennebunk Savings Bank, was elected chair of its board. Other officers include, as vice chairman, Ken Coville, superintendent of MSAD 74; secretary, Cary Olson-Cartwright, assistant vice president for corporate social responsibility at Unum; and treasurer, Chris Amann, nonprofit financial consultant. New board members include Chris Cimino, executive vice president of business development, C.M. Board members include Barbara Soloway, Sara LaBrecque, Jim Otis, Bruce Merrill, Michelle King, Tami Exchange and Brian Frost.?Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences in East Boothbay announced that Herbert Paris is the new chair of its board of trustees. Paris previously served as president and CEO of Mid Coast Health Services and its subsidiaries until his retirement in 2011.

Maine Medical Center in Portland announced that Matthew Hayn received a three-year appointment as its Cancer Liaison Physician, a position that is part of cancer care programs accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer.

The Maine Center for Entrepreneurial Development in Portland announced six new board members, including Jim DaSilva, vice president business development, GW & Wade LLC; Charlie Emmons, senior commercial loan officer, Finance Authority of Maine; Sam Fratoni, board chair, Envision Maine and member of the Maine Angels; Fletcher Kittredge, CEO, GWI; Becky McKinnell, president, iBec Creative; and Chris Sauer, president and CEO, Ocean Renewable Power Co.

Day One, an agency in South Portland that aids in preventing and treating adolescent substance abuse, announced Andrea Cayer and Matthew Lancaster joined its board of directors. Cayer recently retired from Cape Elizabeth High School, where she was the school's adult facilitator of the agency's Natural Helpers of Maine program, while Lancaster is co-owner of Mr. Bagel in Scarborough and Pine Point.

The Maine Real Estate & Development Association announced that Jason Favreau will chair its membership and marketing committee. Favreau is a principal in the tax services group at BerryDunn.

Sarah Halpin was appointed as the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc. ambassador for Maine. Halpin is a certified financial planner with The Danforth Group of Wells Fargo Advisors in Portland.

Achievements

Franklin Community Health Network in Farmington announced that Ralph Johnson achieved advancement to fellow status from the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society. Johnson is the organization's chief information officer.

The Maine Innkeepers Association presented Clark Insurance in Portland with the 2014 Allied Member of the Year Award at its annual meeting.

Bangor Savings Bank announced that Mischelle Adams was awarded the Certified Trust & Financial Advisor designation from the Institute of Certified Bankers, a subsidiary of the American Bankers Association. Adams is the wealth management account officer at the bank.

Preble Street, a Portland-based social service agency, announced it earned the highest score of any charity in Maine in a 2014 fiscal-year analysis performed by Charity Navigator, a national evaluator of charities. The agency recorded an overall average of 99.17 points out of 100 to rank among the highest-scored nonprofits in the country.

BerryDunn, a CPA and consulting firm in Portland, announced that Seth Webber, principal and head of the firm's valuation group, earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and Meridith Salvas, a member of the firm's valuation group, earned the Certified Valuation Analyst designation.

Bernstein Shur, a law firm in Portland, announced that Kate Knox was named the 2014 Outstanding Alumna Award recipient by the Women's Law Association at the University of Maine School of Law. Knox is a shareholder and chair of the political and legislative practice group with the firm.

Educate Maine presented U.S. Sen. Angus King with its Weston L. Bonney Education Leadership Award. The award recognizes those who have demonstrated “commitment, vision and courage in support of Maine students.”

Bath Savings Institution recently presented its Employee Recognition Awards. Winners included Michelle Barker, assistant branch manager in Freeport, Neighbor to Neighbor Award; Jamie House, teller in Boothbay Harbor, exceptional teller award; Sarah Peters, assistant branch manager in Damariscotta, 2014 exceptional customer service representative; Daniel Wilson, assistant manager deposit services in Bath, most helpful internal support person; and the Damariscotta branch received the 2014 relationship builder award.

Girl Scouts of Maine announced that Gena Canning, managing partner at Pine State Trading Co., received its 2015 women of distinction award.

The Maine Health Access Foundation announced that President and CEO Wendy Wolf was honored by the Maine Primary Care Association as the recipient of its president's award.

Verrill Dana, a law firm in Portland, was recognized in the 2015 edition of BTI Consulting Group's BTI Client Service A-Team, a ranking of client service for the corporate law firm market.

AARP Maine named Dottie Megna, a retired educator, as the winner of the 2014 Andrus Award for community service.
