New hires

Tilson, an IT and telecom company in Portland, recently hired Gary Grunewald as CFO and Doug Gauthier as a wireless technical installer and tower climber. Grunewald was previously the vice president of finance at Oxford Networks while Gauthier was a tower climber on a large New England cellular LTE deployment.

HistoryIT LLC, an information technology firm specializing in historical collections in Portland, recently hired Sarah Marcus as vice president of Midwest projects. Previously, Marcus was senior historian at History Works Inc., where she supervised research projects and oversaw the development of the firm's new knowledge management system.

KeyBank recently hired Michelle Crocker as vice president and branch manager for its Waterville branch. Crocker was previously a vice president and banking center manager for Bank of America Corp.

Machias Savings Bank recently hired Tristine Currie as branch manager of its Bangor location. Currie was most recently the Bangor office branch manager for Bangor Savings Bank.

Edwards, Faust & Smith, a CPA firm in Bangor, recently hired Lily Dalton to assist managing the tax department. Dalton previously worked for Deloitte Consulting and Anderson Consulting.

BioSpecialists, a death, trauma and biohazard cleanup and medical waste transportation company in Gorham, recently announced that Richard Shepard has accepted a full time position as vice president of operations. Shepard has been with the company since its inception while also serving as a senior investigator in the Maine State Fire Marshalls office.

Northeast Bank recently hired Linda Thibault as senior mortgage loan officer. Thibault, previously a senior mortgage loan officer with Bank of America, is based out of the bank's Auburn branch.

Patient Advocates in Gray recently hired Renee Charlton as a customer service representative. Charlton joins the company with six years of customer service experience in private medical offices and a national insurance company.

Pulp+Wire, a marketing agency in Portland, recently hired Mattie McQuinn as a new business developer. Previously, McQuinn managed events for Tidesmart Global where she specialized in experiential marketing.

Verrill Dana, a law firm in Portland, recently hired Susan Steiner as counsel. Steiner, who joined the firm's private clients and fiduciary services group, previously practiced at Pierce Atwood.

Mainestream Media LLC in Scarborough recently hired Patrick Grey and Melissa Wolf. Grey is the new night host for Hot 104.7 as well as working in the programming department while Wolf is the traffic coordinator.

Provider Power, the parent company of Electricity Maine, headquartered in Auburn, and ENH Power in New Hampshire, recently hired Candace Sanborn as vice president of marketing and William Fessenden as director of media strategy. Sanborn was previously a co-owner of the Auburn-based Encompass Marketing, where Fessenden was a public relations and marketing specialist.

Perkins Thompson, a law firm in Portland, recently hired Joseph Siviski as an associate attorney. Siviski, who interned at the Maine Attorney General's Office and served as a student attorney at the Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic, will practice primarily in the areas of business law and environmental law.

Crossroads, a Scarborough-based nonprofit offering gender-specific behavioral health treatment, recently hired three staff members. Andrea Jahna was hired as a federal grant project manager; Lori Martin as grant case manager; and Kristina Halliday as a clinician with the outpatient clinical team.

The Camden Harbour Inn recently named Bart van der Velden general manager of Natalie's Restaurant. Van der Velden previously served as the assistant food and beverage manager at the Golden Tulip in Noordwijk Beach in the Netherlands.

Promotions

Eaton Peabody, a law firm in Bangor, recently announced that attorneys Jeff Spaulding, Mike Hahn, Sarah Newell and Sarah Reinhart were made shareholders. Spaulding advises companies in all stages of development as well as mergers and acquisitions; Hahn is a corporate finance attorney; Newell is focused on employment and labor law; and Reinhart's practice focuses on real estate and estate planning and administration.

Thomas College in Waterville recently promoted Dr. James Libby to academic dean. Libby was chair of the Department of Business Administration for the past five years.

Bull Moose, a new and used entertainment store headquartered in Portland, recently promoted Luc Comeau to movie buyer for the company's 11 stores. Comeau was previously the manager of the company's Brunswick location.

Legacy Publishing Co., a publisher of personal development products for families in Westbrook, recently promoted Jim DeWolfe to president and Cheryl Kepner to senior vice president of customer engagement. DeWolfe was previously the company's vice president of sales while Kepner was a member of the company's management team.

Kennebunk Savings Bank recently promoted Jill Peter to senior vice president, chief risk officer. Peter previously served as the bank's senior vice president of credit administration.

United Insurance, an independent insurance agency in Falmouth, recently promoted Marcia Hartt to director of marketing. Hartt joined the agency as part of the Hayden Perry office in Presque Isle in 2003 and has worked as a commercial lines account manager and as a public relations/media coordinator for the company.

Camden National Corp. recently promoted six individuals. Barry King, senior credit analyst, vice president, and Erin Merrill, deposit services manager, assistant vice president, were promoted in the organization's management ranks. Other promotions included: Amy Eldridge, item processing officer; Megan Kennedy, deposit services officer; Elizabeth Grierson, electronic banking officer; and Jason Freeman, information technology officer.

TD Bank recently promoted Anni Roming to account manager II in commercial lending in Waterville. Roming was previously a portfolio loan officer.

Crossroads, a Scarborough-based nonprofit offering gender-specific behavioral health treatment, recently announced several promotions. Mary Anne Roy was promoted from clinical supervisor for the Kennebunk Counseling Center to the nonprofit's assistant clinical director; Nikki Oliver, adds the role of program development manager to her current role as halfway house program manager; Teresa Bendokas-Heinfeld, previously the outpatient practice manager, was promoted to system administrator; and Vivian Trott moved from accountant to assistant finance director.

Bath Savings Institution recently promoted Jean Libby to mortgage lender at its Falmouth branch. Libby, a vice president, has been with the bank for more than a decade and most recently worked as the Yarmouth branch manager.

Appointments

Northeast Security Systems Inc. in Wiscasset recently announced that Kate Schleh, a system designer with the company, was appointed vice president for the Lincoln County Triad, which aims to reduce the criminal victimization of older citizens and enhance delivery of law enforcement services to the elderly population of Lincoln County.

Maurice Martin, an associate professor of community health education at University of Maine at Farmington, was recently named deputy editor of Health Promotion Practice, a professional journal in the field of community health. The peer-reviewed bi-monthly journal is devoted to the practical application of health promotion and education.

The Gulf of Maine Marine Education Association in South Portland recently elected Deb Debiegun and Cynthia Randall to its board of directors. Debiegun is a marine scientist and an environmental educator and Randall is the executive director of Cornerstones of Science in Brunswick.

Larry Smith of Ogunquit Camera Shop and Cricket's Corner Toys and Kites in Ogunquit was recently elected to the board of directors of the Kite Trade Association International. Smith is the founder of the Capriccio Festival of Kites held annually on Ogunquit Beach.

HealthReach Community Health Centers recently announced board changes for 2013. The center's new officers include: Joanne Joy, chair; Margaret Edwards Flynn, vice chair; and David Leigh, secretary/treasurer. Gary Pierson, Janine White, Jody Watson and Dana Kempton are new board members.

Crossroads, a Scarborough-based nonprofit offering behavioral health treatment for women, recently elected new members and officers to its board of directors. Officers include: Kristy Greco, president and treasurer; Tim Sample, vice president; Emily Semenchuk, secretary. Mia Cooper and Joanne Hale joined the board.

Accolades

Bernstein Shur, a law firm in Portland, recently announced that Daniel Murphy, attorney and shareholder, received the Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent rating, the highest level of Martindale-Hubbell's Peer Review Rating system. The rating indicates a lawyer's high ethical standards and professional ability, generated from evaluations by other members of the bar and the judiciary in the United States and Canada.

Ray Mabus, secretary of the United States Navy, recently presented the Distinguished Public Service Award to U.S. Sen. Susan Collins. The award, established in 1951, is the highest public service honor bestowed by the Department of the Navy and is awarded to civilians for service that benefits the Navy, Marine Corps and Department of the Navy.

Tidestone Solutions, an accounting software firm in Portland, recently announced that Sandra Wyman, president, was included on a list of honorable mentions by Enterprising Women magazine for its 2013 Enterprising Women of the Year award. The award honors women business owners with fast-growth businesses who mentor or actively support other women and girls involved in entrepreneurship and stand out as leaders in their communities.

Kemp Goldberg Partners, an advertising, public relations and interactive agency in Portland, recently announced it received two awards at the 2012 RX Show in New York City. The firm received Awards of Excellence for InterMed's new website as well as its recruitment booklet.

Gary Daigneault of WIN Home Inspection in Biddeford was recently honored with a Premiere Club Single Vehicle Operator Award at WIN's annual conference, held in Phoenix, Arizona. Daigneault, a NAHI Certified Inspector, was recognized for performing 435 inspections in 2012.

Troy Munford, Catherine Creighton and Matthew Kovacevich were recently recognized at the Maine Governor's Conference on Tourism. Munford, tour and travel sales manager at Sunday River in Newry, was presented with the Governor's Award for Tourism Excellence after increasing year-round bus tour business to the resort by 400% in recent years. Creighton and Kovacevich, of Thalo Blue Design in Auburn, received the tourism marketing and promotion award for their work in rebuilding the brand identity of the Kennebec and Moose River Valleys tourism region of Maine.

Systems Engineering, an employee-owned IT provider in Portland, recently announced that the company has been named to CRN magazine's third annual list of the Tech Elite 250. The list represents IT providers that have invested in training and education required to earn premier certifications in the data center market.

Burgess Advertising & Marketing in Portland was recently awarded two Gold Service Industry Advertising Awards for their work with the Portland International Jetport and the USA Ski Jumping Team. The award-winning work for the Jetport included two 30-second television commercial spots while the second gold was awarded for the USA Ski Jumping Team website.
