New hires

The city of Auburn hired Brian Wood as assistant city manager. Wood was senior operations manager in the Office of the City Administrator in Washington, D.C.

Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington hired Abhishekh Govind a full-time provider and assistant medical director of the Emergency Department.

Uprise Partners, a consulting and engineering company in Bethel, hired Nate Bourgoin as head of software engineering. Bourgoin was most recently director of software engineering at Audible in Cambridge, Mass.

Fontaine Family – The Real Estate Leader based in Auburn hired Deb Brackett as a Realtor.

Skowhegan Savings hired Dawn Palmer as senior vice president and chief human resources officer. Palmer was previously CEO at Home Care for Maine.

Viles Arboretum in Augusta hired Ryan Martin as executive director. Martin was previously director of the Summer Institute at Tilton School of New Hampshire.

The Greater Portland Council of Governments hired Chris Chop as transportation director. Most recently, Chop was transportation demand management program manager at Maine Medical Center.

Promotions

The Portland Museum of Art promoted Shalini Le Gall to chief curator, Susan Donnell and Harry W. Konkel curator of European art and director of academic engagement. Le Gall as previously the Susan Donnell and Harry W. Konkel curator of European art and director of academic engagement.

Katahdin Trust Co. promoted Rebecca Potter to assistant vice president, commercial services officer in Bangor. Previously, Potter was a commercial services officer.

Northern Maine Development Commission in Caribou promoted Josh Nadeau to commercial loan officer position and Brandon McDonald to a business advisor for the Small Business Development Center at the commission. Nadeau was previously the Small Business Development Center director at the commission while McDonald was entrepreneurial program manager.

Appointments

The board of Portland-based Ecomaine unanimously approved Mike Shaw, public works director for the town of Scarborough, as board chair for its fiscal year 2021. Other board officers include Erik Street, vice chair; Bill Shane, treasurer and chair of the finance and audit committee; Greg L’Heureux, vice chair of the finance and audit committee; Caleb Hemphill, secretary and chair of the outreach and recycling committee; Jeff Amatrudo, vice chair of the outreach and recycling committee; and Matthew Frank, past president.

The Maine Historical Society in Portland elected Liz Johnson, Tom Platz and Natalie Sotoloff to its board of trustees.

Coastal Enterprises Inc. a Brunswick-based community lending and economic development nonprofit, elected Chip Newell as board chair and Miriam Shark as board vice chair. Newell is principal in the NewHeight Group, a real estate development and marketing consulting firm in Portland, while Shark is an independent consultant.

The Maine Hospital Association elected Steve Diaz, chief medical officer for MaineGeneral Health in Augusta, as chair of its board of directors. Rounding out the board officers are Mark Fourre, chair-elect, president of Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockport and Waldo County General Hospital in Belfast; Terri Vieira, treasurer, president of Northern Light Inland Hospital in Waterville and Northern Light Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield; and Jeffrey Sanders, secretary, president of Maine Medical Center in Portland. In addition, Shawn Anderson, CEO at Houlton Regional Hospital; Crystal Landry, CEO, Penobscot Valley Hospital in Lincoln; Nate Howell, president, Southern Maine Health Care; and Steve Jorgensen, president, St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, joined the board.

Achievements

Maine Campus Compact, a coalition of 18 member campuses formed to lead a movement to reinvigorate the civic mission of higher education, named University Credit Union its “2020 Corporate Partner of the Year” for contributions made to the University of Maine at Presque Isle.

Katahdin Bankshares Corp., parent company of Katahdin Trust Co. in Houlton, said that it was named to American Banker magazine’s “Top 200 Publicly Traded Community Banks and Thrifts.” The rating is based on the bank’s three-year average return on equity.

Meesha Luce, a personal insurance account executive with Allen Insurance and Financial in Camden, earned the “Award of Excellence” designation from Safeco Insurance Co.

Sutherland Weston, a marketing and communications firm in Bangor, announced that it earned four national Telly Awards for video production. The agency won silver in the category of Social Video Serie (comedy) for a video produced for C&L Aviation Group; in Local TV General (schools, colleges, universities) for a video produced for the University of Maine Augusta; and in Non-Broadcast General (government relations) for a video called “City of Bangor: Best of All Words.” The firm won bronze in the category of Social Video Series (media and entertainment) for a video produced for the agency.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce honored U.S. Sen. Susan Collins with its inaugural “Jefferson – Hamilton Award for Bipartisanship,” which recognizes members of Congress who demonstrate bipartisan leadership and constructive governing.

Town & Country Federal Credit Union in Scarborough received Credit Union National Association’s “Diamond Awards” for its Money Conference, Million Dollar Challenge and Rock the House programs.

Jim Peacock, owner and principal of Peak-Careers Consulting, was the 2020 recipient of National Career Development Association’s “Kenneth B. Hoyt Career Education Practitioner Award” for his 19 years of training career service providers.

Fontaine Family - The Real Estate Leader in Auburn said that Bill Bergeron was awarded the accredited luxury home specialist designation from The Luxury Home Council Inc. Bergeron is a real estate agent with the agency. The agency also presented its annual awards including: Clayton Larochelle, “Top Sales Leader Award;” Peak Performers were Bergeron, Doreen Jackson, Maria Morrisette, Teri Campbell and Pat Long-Cressey; “Outstanding Achiever Awards” went to Kelly Webb and Charmaine Raby; “Top Producer Award” winners were Cindy Morin, Chad Doucette, Kathy Lee Cook, Megan Fortin, Paul Rondeau, Gail LaPrino and Barbara McGuire; “Million Dollar Producer Awards” recipients were Alle Gildart and Tim Cyr; Rondeau and Doucette were named “Rookie of the Year” award winners; “Anniversary Milestone Awards” went to Larochelle for 20 years, Long-Cressey for 10 years, Morin for eight years, Diane Brule for six years and Ryan Gould, Barbara McGuire, Charmaine Raby, Cook, Webb, Morrissette, and Fortin for five years.
