Ogunquit chefs named James Beard winners

The chefs and owners of Arrows Restaurant in Ogunquit are the latest in Maine to receive recognition from the James Beard Foundation.

Clark Frasier and Mark Gaier were named Best Chefs in the Northeast at the James Beard Awards ceremony held last night in New York City, according to the Portland Press Herald. Frasier and Gaier have been nominated six times for the award. Though best known for Arrows, the pair also own MC Perkins Cove in Ogunquit and Summer Winter in Burlington, Mass.

Last year, Rob Evans, chef and owner of Hugo's in Portland, took home the award. Sam Hayward, chef at Fore Street in Portland, won in 2004, and Melissa Kelley, co-owner and executive chef of Primo in Rockland, won in 1999.
