Orthopedic center to expand to Brunswick

Portland-based OA Centers for Orthopaedics has signed a letter of intent to open a satellite office in Brunswick's Maine Street Station development.

CEO John Wipfler told The Times Record that the company plans to lease the 10,000-square-foot second floor of the building, currently under construction, from JHR Development of Maine. Besides its Portland headquarters, OA Centers for Orthopaedics has satellite offices in Saco and Windham and sees a total of 70,000 patients a year. Wipfler told the paper an office in Brunswick would allow it to better manage its relationship with Bowdoin College and serve patients in the area. The company hopes to have 15 to 16 employees at the office, some of whom could be new hires, and to be open by the fall.

The building is also slated to be the home of Mid Coast Hospital's walk-in clinic and primary care offices.
