Oxford Network restructures, lays off 12

Lewiston-based Oxford Networks on Friday announced it is laying off 12 employees, making up around 10% of its work force, as part of a restructuring effort at the telecommunications company.

In a press release, CEO Craig Gunderson said that the layoffs come with changing customer demands.

Matt Jancovic, a company spokesman, told Mainebiz that the cuts were not to one particular department but to specific positions the company determined are no longer required.

Those employees will receive severance packages and access to outplacement services, according to a press release.

Jancovic said the move was part of the company's broader strategic plan that will likely include adding new positions in the future but he could not say when any new hiring might occur.

In a separate move, Matt Jacobson, formerly an executive vice president at the company, left Oxford in December.

Jancovic said he could not comment on the terms of Jacobson's departure from the company.

Jacobson was previously the CEO of Resilient Tier V Corp., which planned to build a high-security data center for government clients at the former Brunswick Naval Air Station and, prior to that, was the President and CEO of Maine & Co.
