Pan Atlantic SMS Group's latest poll of 400 likely voters gives a look at how the chips might fall for Maine's key electoral races and issues in November.
Unenrolled candidate Angus King emerged in that poll with a large, 26.5-point lead in likely voter support over Republican Charlie Summers and Democrat Cynthia Dill in Maine's U.S. Senate race to fill outgoing Sen. Olympia Snowe's seat.
Summers had support from around 24% of the voters polled; Dill had around 12%; and nearly 14% said they were still undecided in the poll with a 4.9-point margin of error.
In Maine's 1st District congressional race, incumbent Democrat Chellie Pingree also had a large lead over Republican Jon Courtney 56.5% to 24.2%. Polling for Maine's 2nd District race also gave the incumbent an edge, with Democrat Mike Michaud leading Republican Kevin Raye 52% to 32%.
The poll showed approval ratings similar to those taken around a year ago for Gov. Paul LePage, with 51.8% of respondents disapproving of his job performance. Around 43% of likely voters polled said they approved or somewhat approved of his work.
The poll also measured the likely outcomes of ballot questions.
