The city of Portland created a publicly available housing dashboard to track and visualize the city’s efforts to create more housing.

The dashboard was created by the Department of Planning & Urban Development using city approval and permitting data.

The public can interact with the dashboard to see housing approved by year, from 2010 onward, as well as the types of projects, location, affordability and completion status.

In 2023, a total of 1,130 housing units were approved. Of those, 602 units were market-rate, and 528 units were affordable. Among the approved units, 386 were 80% or less of area median income, and 142 fell within the 80% to 120% range of area median income.

Of completed units, 489 housing units were finished in 2023, representing approvals spanning from 2017 to 2023. In completed units, 141 were affordable in the zero to 80% bracket for area median income, while 32 were in the 80% to 120% range.
