Ransom Consulting LLC, a multidisciplinary engineering and environmental company based in Portland, has acquired a New Jersey firm for an undisclosed price.
Ransom purchased Civalier Engineering & Surveying Inc. of Wenonah, N.J., according to a news release Monday. The deal creates Ransom’s sixth office in the Northeast and second in New Jersey.
Civalier Engineering has operated for more than 30 years, supporting clients throughout New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. Ransom has hired Scott D. Brown as the office manager for the new Ransom office in Wenonah, and he also will serve as vice president of Ransom.
“For over 30 years, Ransom has been a trusted engineering and environmental leader providing local and regional expertise for our clients across New England and New Jersey,” said Ransom CEO Steve Ransom.
“With the acquisition of Civalier Engineering in Wenonah, New Jersey, we are now adding civil engineering and surveying services to our existing mix of environmental consulting services. We expect this to broaden our market to diversify our skill set to the already responsive and value-added solutions we provide to our clients.”
With the acquisition of Civalier, Ransom now has 75 employees at its offices in Portland; Hamilton and Wenham, in New Jersey; and in North Andover, Mass.; Portsmouth, N.H.; and Providence, R.I.
Steve Ransom founded Ransom Consulting in 1988 and the firm has completed more than 6,000 projects across the U.S. with clients including governments, real estate developers, utilities and industrial companies.
Among the firm’s recent projects has been site selection and development work for American Aquafarms, the company proposing a salmon farm in Frenchman Bay.
