Pierce Atwood has named Sara Murphy and Elizabeth Frazier as partners in the firm.
Murphy focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation and class action defense for clients in various industries, including financial services, health care, energy, insurance and professional services.
She regularly appears in state and federal courts, representing clients in disputes such as breach of contract, unfair trade practices and RICO claims. She also provides significant pro bono legal services to Maine Court Appointed Special Advocates in complex child protection cases.
Murphy was appointed by the Maine Supreme Judicial Court as commissioner for the Maine Civil Legal Services Fund. She received the firm’s Scribner Firm Impact Award for her work as the founding member of Pierce Atwood’s racial justice initiative.
Murphy received her J.D. from the University of Maine School of Law and her bachelor's degree in theater from the University of Southern California.
Frazier focuses her practice on government relations, lobbying, business advocacy and environmental and land use policy. As an advocate and lobbyist for businesses, Elizabeth helps clients bridge the gap to Maine’s local and state government.
Frazier has spoken to many of Maine’s business leaders on policy issues related to Maine’s housing crisis, commercial and residential development in the state and the need for strong public advocacy.
She received her J.D. from the University of Maine School of Law and her bachelor’s degree in history from Trinity College.
“Elizabeth and Sara are talented lawyers and advocates in their respective practice areas,” said David Barry, managing partner. “Both have demonstrated an unwavering dedication to firm clients.
"Their exceptional skills and contributions have not only earned them this well-deserved promotion but also reinforced our commitment to fostering talent within the firm and developing the next generation of firm leaders. I am confident their leadership will continue to help drive our collective success.”
