The Portland Symphony Orchestra has hired Elizabeth Kane as director of artistic operations.
In this new role, she will lead the operations team and oversee the production of all orchestra events, including concerts, rehearsals and community engagements.
She will also work closely with the music director and artistic planning committee on season programming, serve as a liaison between the orchestra and the rest of the organization, and help carry out provisions in the musicians’ collective bargaining agreement.
Kane brings a decade of knowledge in operations and artistic experience.
She most recently served as orchestra personnel manager for the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, and previously as an assistant to its vice president and general manager. In 2011, she interned for the Portland Symphony Orchestra.
The Biddeford resident earned a master’s degree in management at Carnegie Mellon University and a bachelor’s degree from Ithaca College School of Music.
Founded in 1923, the Portland Symphony Orchestra is one of the largest performing arts organizations in Maine, with 80 professional musicians. The orchestra plays regularly at Merrill Auditorium at Portland City Hall.
