Public hearing on biz lending

A legislative committee is asking members of the business community to speak up about the economic crisis and its effect on lending in Maine.

The Legislature's Joint Standing Committee on Business, Research and Economic Development will hold a public hearing Nov. 17 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Room 208 of the State Office Building, the Sun Journal reported. The committee has also asked for a status report from Maine financial services firms on the availability of capital for Maine businesses.

The committee wants to make the availability of capital in Maine more efficient and coordinated, according to the paper.
