This year’s U.S. Olympians and Paralympians will wear Ralph Lauren jeans and moto jackets during the opening and closing ceremonies in Paris. What's unique about these outfits is that two Maine manufacturers have played a significant role in their creation.
Rancourt, a family-owned business in Lewiston, assembled and manufactured the buck shoe that will be used in the opening and closing ceremonies. The show is white lace-up shoe made from suede or leather.
It's the fourth time Rancourt has partnered with Ralph Lauren to manufacture shoes for the Team USA uniforms.
For the first time, Ralph Lauren has joined forces with Rogue Industries, a family-owned Standish business known for its leather goods. Rogue and Ralph Lauren collaborated on a military-style belt that is made from webbing and has a buckle design.
The outfits for the opening ceremony will feature jeans paired with a navy-blue wool double-breasted blazer trimmed in white and red. The Ralph Lauren logo is featured in the left chest area. Underneath, athletes will sport a navy-and-white-striped oxford shirt, the brand announced Tuesday.
The closing ceremony look includes a white moto-style jacket with red, white and blue detailing and white jeans.
“Ralph Lauren has once again created designs that not only capture the essence of American style but also embody the spirit and pride of Team USA,” said Sarah Hirshland, U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee CEO.
"As Team USA athletes prepare to represent the United States at the upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games, this iconic apparel serves as a symbol of unity and inspiration for both our teams and the millions of fans who will be cheering them on."
This is the ninth time that Ralph Lauren will serve as the official outfitter for Team USA.
The brand said the uniforms “celebrate classic styles that are made to be loved and endure for generations while showcasing iconic American style on the unparalleled global stage.”
“Ralph Lauren is profoundly honored to define the look of the American delegation as they represent our country in one of the world’s most celebrated and storied events,” said David Lauren, Ralph Lauren’s son and the corporation’s chief branding and innovation officer.
The Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games will begin on July 26 and run through Aug. 11.
