The Maine district office of the U.S. Small Business Administration is sponsoring a number of events next week to support small business efforts and provide technical assistance, training workshops and information about gaining access to capital through SBA programs.
The events are part of the SBA’s National Small Business Week. Here’s the schedule in Maine:
A workshop on “Increasing Sales in Your Small Business” is being held from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Alfond Youth Center in Waterville.
The “Small Business Annual Awards Celebration at the Augusta Country Club,” which is the Maine SBA office’s largest event of the year, will be held from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Augusta Country Club in Manchester. The event recognizes the SBA’s full portfolio of distinguished awardees for their outstanding success as small businesses, or advocacy for small businesses.
Diane Sturgeon, deputy district director for Maine, will be speaking at The Shrine Club in Belfast, which is hosted by the Belfast Area Chamber of Commerce.
SBA Regional Administrator Seth Goodall, District Director Marilyn Geroux and Deputy District Director Diane Sturgeon will be leading a “Meet the Lenders” event at the Pepperell Mill Campus in Biddeford from 9 a.m. to noon. The event is intended to give those seeking to start a business and business owners seeking financing the opportunity to meet with representatives from area banks, representatives from the SBA, development agencies, micro lenders and the chamber.
Marilyn Geroux, SBA district director for Maine, and Diane Sturgeon, deputy district director, will be participating in the SCALE UP graduation at the Sur Lie Restaurant, 11 Free St. in Portland, from 5:30 p.m to 7 p.m.
Diane Sturgeon, SBA deputy district director, will be speaking at 7 a.m. to the Sunrise Rotary Club in Waterville about SBA programs and services at the Alfond Youth Center in Waterville.
