SGC Engineering in Westbrook is being acquired by a Scottish-based energy company.
Aberdeen-based Senergy Alternative Energy, a division of Senergy, announced today it is in the final stages of acquiring the Westbrook firm, according to a press release. Officials from both companies said the move would be an important step in Senergy's efforts to establish a presence in the renewable energy sector in North America, and would allow SGC Engineering to reach a global market. The deal is expected to be complete by the second quarter of this year. A purchase price was not disclosed.
SGC Engineering, which was founded in 2002 and has about 60 employees, specializes in electrical and civil engineering, land surveying and project management services for power generation companies, wind power developers and utilities, according to the release. Senergy Alternative Energy offers project development and consulting services for power transmission, geothermal and wind power projects, among others, and has 65 employees. Its parent company has annual revenues of $120 million and 450 employees.
