Amping up its position in fast-growing energy markets, Sevee & Maher Engineers in Cumberland created a power and utility services consulting group, hiring an 11-member team of engineers and technicians to support projects in renewable and green power generation, energy storage and power distribution.
Leading the team are licensed professional engineers Tom Henaghen, Greg Cuetara and J Cavanagh, professionals in the power and utilities industry across Maine and the eastern U.S.
Also joining were eight civil, electrical and structural engineering and technical staff, all of whom worked together previously. They are Hannah Cray, Wesley Gerrish, Michael Lyford, Daniel Murray, Derek Rancourt, Christopher Roderick, Teresa Stein and Brad Therrien.
“Adding this new service group is an exciting, strategic step for SME to become more involved in the robust wave of energy infrastructure development,” said Erik Clapp, the firm’s president. “Investment in clean, efficient energy is a top priority in the private and public sectors everywhere, and SME is well positioned to contribute to the success of projects by providing high quality services.”
Sevee & Maher provides energy developers with specialized technical expertise, guidance and oversight for wind, solar and hydro power generation and battery energy storage system projects. Services encompass conceptual design, permitting assistance, detailed engineering, construction support and operations and maintenance support.
The firm also assists utilities with engineering to address challenges associated with grid modernization and hardening and addressing system upgrades required to accommodate the connection of renewable energy sources.
For several years, SME has provided siting, design and permitting for hundreds of solar energy projects in northern New England and the Midwest. The additional hires bring expanded civil, structural and electrical engineering capabilities that dovetail with existing services and allow for growth in new areas.
Founded in 1985, Sevee & Maher has over 100 employees at its headquarters in Cumberland and in branch offices in greater Atlanta, Chicago and Phoenix, with clients ranging from small family businesses to Fortune 500 industrial companies across the U.S.
