Portland-based sports marketing agency Shamrock Sports Group has renamed itself to reflect its expansion into the entertainment business.
Shamrock Sports & Entertainment will work with entertainment entities to develop corporate sponsorship and multimedia programs, according to a press release from the company. As part of this diversification, the company has hired Dan Gacetta as executive vice president to lead the entertainment division. Gacetta has over 20 years of corporate marketing and sponsorship experience, including developing and implementing marketing programs for major brands and properties in the sports, media and entertainment industries. Gacetta previously ran his own agency and also worked in the corporate sales and athlete marketing division of global agency Octagon.
Shamrock plans to unveil its first entertainment client later this month. Current sports clients include Richard Childress Racing, American Bass Anglers, Arena Football League, Professional Bull Riders, Casco Bay Sports, Goulian Aerosports and USA Ski Jumping.
Brian Corcoran, a former NASCAR and Fenway Sports Group executive, opened Shamrock Sports in March 2010. At that time, he had three clients, and estimated about $500,000 in revenue in 2010, projecting $1 million by late 2011 or early 2012. He also hoped to double his staff from five to 10 people by 2012.
