Shutdown delayed in Rumford

The Newpage mill in Rumford is delaying its two-week shutdown until mid-June, but still plans to idle two paper machines starting Monday.

Those two machines will likely remain idle through May 17, according to the Sun Journal, as the mill adjusts to variations in the pulp and paper markets. The whole-mill shutdown that was originally scheduled for early June was pushed back to fill orders. Newpage employs 860 hourly workers.
