Six Maine housing programs land $1.1M in grants

Six housing organizations in Maine will receive a total of $1,062,909 to support efforts to develop and preserve affordable housing and supportive services for persons with disabilities in Cumberland, Androscoggin, Sagadahoc and Kennebec counties.

The funding will be distributed as follows:

  • Portland Housing Authority: $297,135
  • Lewiston Housing Authority: $166,956
  • The Housing Authority of the City of Westbrook: $193,995
  • Bath Housing Authority: $144,213
  • Augusta Housing Authority: $99,654
  • The Maine State Housing Authority: $160,956.

“Maine’s housing authorities provide many important services to seniors, individuals with disabilities, and low-income individuals and families,” Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, chairwoman of the Housing Appropriations Subcommittee, said in a news release. “By supporting public housing agencies, these grants will help connect Mainers with the resources they need to achieve economic independence.”
