Skowhegan ski area owner injured

The owner of Eaton Mountain Ski Area in Skowhegan was seriously injured in an accident involving a snow-grooming vehicle over the weekend.

David Beers, who lives in Massachusetts, was trying to fix the vehicle with another man when it accidentally slipped into gear and ran over Beers, according to the Morning Sentinel. Beers was flown via LifeFlight helicopter to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. No information about his condition was available; however, a witness told the paper that Beers suffered facial lacerations and a serious injury to at least one leg.

Beers and his wife, Donna, bought the ski mountain about three years ago for $400,000 and closed it for two years to make repairs and upgrades. Last year, it reopened with a new snow-tubing park, snowmaking devices and lights for night skiing.
