SMRT Architects & Engineers said this week it has promoted Lura Wade to lead the newly relocated Bangor office.
With over 15 years of electrical engineering and telecommunication experience, Wade has managed SMRT projects in the commercial, technology, government, education, civic and health care sectors.
As the office leader, Wade will oversee office operations and administrative functions, identify key business development opportunities, ensure the implementation of firm and office goals and foster a positive work environment. Her expertise in project management will be invaluable in her new role, the firm said.
In March, SMRT announced a move from 277 State St. to 74 Harlow St. in downtown Bangor. It said at the time that the new office space signaled an added commitment to the region.
It cited the work with the University of Maine on the upcoming construction of the Green Engineering and Materials Research facility — what UMaine is calling the Factory of the Future. The site will offer dedicated space to further develop advanced composite materials and structures nationally and internationally.
SMRT said the Factory of the Future "will embrace Industry 4.0 technologies, including AI-enabled digital manufacturing, to foster innovation and drive positive change."
The firm was also involved in the development of Tyler Technologies' new office space in Orono.
SMRT Architects and Engineers, which is headquartered at 75 Washington Ave. in Portland, is Maine's largest architecture firm, with 23 licensed architects and 105 employees, according to the 2024 Mainebiz Book of Lists. The firm reported revenue of $29.2 million in 2022.
